"Covfefe"
Trump adds Words and Phrases to Our Vocabulary
This post is admittedly a bit of a troll and fluff piece. But behind it is the realization of the many things Trump represents that are changing our society, mostly for the worse. Trump has a limited vocabulary, and he is prone to repeating the same things multiple times. He is a testimony to the adage that if you repeat something often enough, people will believe it. Additionally, his choice of words and phrases are almost always directed in one of two ways: how wonderful he is or how awful his opponents are. So, here is Trump’s Dictionary.
Phrases and Words:
Weaponize—Using the levers of government to punish foes. And, of course, only something a Democratic DOJ would do, never his DOJ.
Dumocrat—Trump’s derogatory word for his political opponents
Covfefe—Apparently it’s coffee, but controversy exists as he fell asleep while posting.
Drain the Swamp—Meant to impugn any federal employee not fiercely loyal to him.
We’ll See in About Two Weeks—Used to put off inquiries when he has no idea when it will occur, as in, “We’ll have a great health plan in about two weeks.”
We Won in Iran—Repeated non-stop to cover the error of his war of choice which is leaving America and Americans much worse off.
We Will Have a Peace Deal in a Few Days—Always follows “We won in Iran”. Trump has told us at least 38 times that a peace deal is eminent (here).
Deep State---Similar to “Drain the Swamp”
Witch Hunt— Trump’s effort to delegitimize an investigation into any one of Trump’s crimes and illegal actions.
Nobody’s Ever Seen Anything Like It— Used in two circumstances. As a superlative when he wants to brag about something or a denunciation when he wants to complain about his enemies.
Tremendous, Huge, Incredible – Anything he’s doing or trying to do.
Disaster, Catastrophe – Anything Democrats do or try to do.
Low IQ Individual—Anyone who criticizes him.
Shit hole Country—Any country with poor Black people.
Fake News— Any published material that Trump doesn’t like
Believe me!—Used to preface a lie.
Braggadocious – When he talks about himself, “I don’t want to seem bragadocious.”
Lock Her Up – No need to define this one.
Nasty – Any woman he doesn’t like.
Rigged – Any election he or one of his endorsed candidates lost.
Additionally, his behavior and actions have resurrected words in the English dictionary that were seldom used prior to his first term.
Kleptocracy – a form of government where corrupt leaders use their power to steal and embezzle their nation’s wealth. Instead of serving the public, these officials prioritize personal enrichment.
Sycophant –a servile, self-seeking flatterer. It describes someone who uses excessive, insincere flattery to win the favor of wealthy, powerful, or influential people in order to gain a personal advantage (e.g. Trump’s Cabinet).
Plutocrat—an immensely wealthy individual who wields significant political power or societal influence simply by virtue of their riches
Authoritarianism— a method of governance that prioritizes blind obedience to a ruling authority over individual freedom. Power is concentrated in a single leader, a small elite, or a single party, and the government is not constitutionally accountable to the people.
Cronyism—the practice of favoring friends, associates, or loyal supporters by giving them jobs, contracts, or privileges, regardless of their actual qualifications.
Kakistocracy—a government or society run by the least qualified, most unprincipled, or worst possible citizens. (I owe this one to Peter Sage’s “Up Close” and his guest post by John Shutkin (here).
Fascism —a government characterized by a dictatorial leader, autocracy, militarism and coercive suppression of opposition, social hierarchy, and suppression of individual interests to the interest of the nation.
Executive Time—two hours each morning during which Trump watches Fox News before arriving at the Oval at 11:00 AM.
I’m sure there are more words and phrases we could add to the list. I’d love to hear from you readers about some others to add to our Trump Dictionary and keep it up to date.

Here’s another Trump dictionary word that I forgot to include: “loyalty” — demanded by Trump but never reciprocated.
